A pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji is revered as one of the most sacred journeys in contemporary times. Known globally as the "Mother who fulfills all desires", Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji resides in a sacred cave nestled within the majestic peaks of Trikuta Mountain. This holy Cave attracts millions of devoted pilgrims annually, with the number of visitors surpassing one crore. People from all corners of India and abroad come to seek solace, driven by unwavering faith.

The Mother's abode lies at an altitude of 5200 ft and requires a trek of approximately 12 km from the base camp in Katra. At the end of this arduous pilgrimage, devotees are blessed with the divine sight of the Mother Goddess within the Sanctum Sanctorum - the Holy Cave. This sacred vision manifests in the form of three natural rock formations known as the Pindies; no statues or idols are found within the cave.

Darshans (divine visions) are available around-the-clock throughout the day.

Since the formation of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (commonly referred to as Shrine Board) in 1986, management of the Shrine and regulation of the Yatra (pilgrimage) has been entrusted to the Board. The Board has undertaken numerous developmental initiatives aimed at enhancing the comfort and satisfaction of Yatris (pilgrims). The offerings and donations received are reinvested by the Board to continually improve various Yatri facilities.
